Accompanied by the perfect jazz station, we slowly snaked closer and closer towards the all-too-impressive New York skyline. Although we adore our hybrid, we love mass transit even more. We arrived in Brooklyn to meet up with the fabulous Anne Ragland, our friend from back home who was kind enough to offer up her bed. Then it was off to dinner and a viewing of Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 911.
Monday morning, bright and early, we joined ---Sierra Club rockstar Bob Muldoon to make media pitch calls and prepare for the wonderful events he planned for us, including a press conference in front of the ecologically sustainable Solaire building in Battery Park City and tabling at the Green Market on Union Square. I enjoyed the general support for our cause, but most entertaining was the common response, "I've never owned a car and don't plan on it-there's no need." After working all summer teaching people about cleaner cars, it's very refreshing to hear that people are walking away from oil dependence.
